Author FAQ

Author FAQ
Answers to common questions about submitting to JPK (Jurnal Pendidikan Khusus).
1Before You Submit
What types of manuscripts does JPK accept?
JPK accepts two types: Research Article and Literature Review, on education and services for individuals with special needs. See Types of Manuscript and Focus and Scope.
Which languages can I use?
Indonesian or English. The title, abstract, and keywords are provided in both languages.
How long should my manuscript be?
5,000–8,000 words, excluding the abstract and references.
Is there a manuscript template?
Yes. Please use the official manuscript template (Microsoft Word) and do not change the page size, margins, header, or footer.
Can I submit a manuscript that has been published or is under review elsewhere?
No. The manuscript must be original. If an earlier version was presented at a conference, explain this in the comments to the editor when submitting.
Is there a publication fee?
Please see Publication Fee for current information.
2Submission Process
How do I submit a manuscript?
Register and log in, click Make a Submission, upload the files, enter the metadata, and finish the submission. Step-by-step instructions are in the Submission Guide.
Why do I need to upload two files?
JPK uses double-blind review. File 1 is the anonymous manuscript without author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or identifying information. File 2 is a title page with all author details.
How do I make my manuscript anonymous?
Remove author names, affiliations, and acknowledgments. Cite your own work as “Author (Year)”, avoid naming your institution, and remove document properties in Word (File, Info, Check for Issues, Inspect Document). See Author Guidelines.
I cannot log in or register. What should I do?
Use the “Forgot your password?” link on the login page. If the problem continues, email jpk_plb@uny.ac.id with your name and a short description of the problem.
Can I add or change authors after submitting?
Changes to the author list should be requested before the manuscript is accepted. Contact the editorial office and explain the reason. All authors must meet the Authorship Criteria.
3Peer Review and Decision
How does peer review work?
JPK uses double-blind peer review: authors and reviewers do not know each other's identities. See Peer Review Process.
How can I follow the status of my manuscript?
Log in and open your dashboard. You will also receive email notifications for important steps.
What decisions are possible?
Accepted without revision, accepted with minor revision, accepted with major revision, or rejected. Decisions are sent through the website system.
How do I submit a revision?
Log in, open your submission, and upload the revised manuscript. Please include a response to the reviewers describing the changes you made.
Can I withdraw my manuscript?
Yes. Please contact the editorial office. See Correction, Retraction & Withdrawal and Publication Fee.
4Publication Ethics
What similarity (plagiarism) limit applies?
Manuscripts are checked with Turnitin. The overall similarity must not exceed 20%, and similarity from a single source must not exceed 20%. See Plagiarism Policy.
Can I use generative AI tools?
Limited use, such as language editing, is allowed if it is disclosed in the manuscript. AI tools cannot be listed as authors, and authors remain responsible for the content. See Generative AI Policy.
Do I need ethical approval or informed consent?
Research with human participants, especially children and learners with disabilities, must report ethical approval and informed consent (including parental or guardian consent). If approval was not required, explain why. See Publication Ethics.
What should I declare about conflicts of interest?
State any financial or non-financial interest that could influence the work, or write that no potential conflict of interest was reported. See Conflict of Interest.

When will my article be published?
JPK publishes two issues per year, in May and November. See Publishing Schedule.
Who holds the copyright?

Can I share my published article?
Yes. You may share the published version in repositories and on personal or academic pages, with a link to the original article and its DOI. See Open Access Policy.
