Jurnal Pendidikan Karakter (JPK) was first published in October 2011. The journal was initially managed by the Institute of Educational Development and Quality Assurance (LPMPP), Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). In 2020, the management of the journal was transferred to the Institute of Research and Community Service of UNY.
JPK is published twice a year, in April and October, and provides an academic platform for researchers, academics, educators, and practitioners to disseminate scholarly studies and research on character education and character development.
Since its establishment, Jurnal Pendidikan Karakter has focused on scientific studies that contribute to the development of theories, concepts, and practices of character education in educational and social contexts. The journal publishes empirical, theoretical, and interdisciplinary studies addressing character formation among individuals, communities, educational institutions, and society.
In its continuous development, Jurnal Pendidikan Karakter strengthens its distinctive academic positioning by examining character through the perspective of law. Law is positioned as a distinctive conceptual paradigm for understanding how character is developed, internalized, regulated, and practiced in educational and social life.
Accordingly, the journal welcomes scholarly studies at the intersection of law and character, including Character Development through Law, Character Education through Law, Character Formation through Law, Character Consciousness through Law, and Character Responsibility through Law. The journal also welcomes studies connecting law with citizenship, civic education, legal education, social responsibility, ethics, justice, and character development.
Through this positioning, Jurnal Pendidikan Karakter seeks to provide an interdisciplinary scholarly forum that connects character, law, education, citizenship, and society, while maintaining character development as its central academic focus and law as its distinctive conceptual paradigm.
The journal continues to improve its publication quality, editorial management, international collaboration, and scholarly impact. As part of its national recognition, Jurnal Pendidikan Karakter is currently accredited at SINTA 3.
Jurnal Pendidikan Karakter (JPK) is committed to advancing scholarly discussions on character development and contributing to the development of character-oriented research from a distinctive law-based perspective in Indonesia and the international academic community.
