A Digital Parenting Model for family Protection to Prevent Bullying and Online Grooming among Adolescents in Sukaharja Village
Abstract
This research is aimed at developing and testing the effectiveness of the Family Digital Protection Parenting (FDPP) model. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) adapted from the Borg and Gall model . The process involved expert validation and a limited trial with one-group pretest-posttest design with 26 parents in Sukaharja Village and qualitative data from interview with parents, village head, and PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) chairperson. Expert validation results indicated that the FDPP model, training module, and instruments were highly feasible (mean Aiken’s V = 0.895; range 0.867–0.922). The trial demonstrated significant improvements across three dimensions: protective digital literacy (N-Gain = 0.61; d = 2.13), digital parenting competence (N-Gain = 0.49; d = 1.640), and family digital protection systems (N-Gain = 0.44; d = 1.22), all with p < 0.001. The dimension of protective attitude and readiness showed a slight increase (from 70.8% to 73.5%) that was not statistically significant (p = 0.276), this was interpreted as a ceiling effect . The advantages of the model were evenly distributed across parents’ educational and occupational backgrounds (p > 0.05).The FDPP model is feasible and effective in improving parental capacity for preventing adolescent bullying and online grooming, protective attitudes and readiness.
