About the Journal
Focus and Scope
Jurnal Riset Pendidikan Matematika is a scientific journal in the field of mathematics education published twice a year (in May & November).
Jurnal Riset Pendidikan Matematika (JRPM) publishes original research articles that contribute to the understanding, development, and improvement of mathematics education. The journal emphasizes empirical studies with strong theoretical foundations in the field of mathematics education. The main areas covered include, but are not limited to:
1. Innovative Learning Models in Mathematics Education
Research on the development and application of learning models or instructional designs to enhance students’ mathematical understanding, reasoning, or problem-solving abilities (e.g., ELPSA, PBL, inquiry-based learning).
2. Technology in Mathematics Teaching and Learning
Studies that explore the integration of digital tools (e.g., GeoGebra, interactive applications, e-learning platforms) to support and improve mathematics instruction and student engagement.
3. Cognitive and Affective Aspects of Mathematics Learning
Research focusing on students' cognitive processes (e.g., mathematical thinking, reasoning, creativity, metacognition) and affective factors (e.g., motivation, anxiety, self-efficacy) in learning mathematics.
4. Curriculum Analysis and Development in Mathematics Education
Studies that examine or propose enhancements to the mathematics curriculum, including alignment with educational standards, content relevance, and conceptual coherence.
5. Assessment and Evaluation in Mathematics Education
Research on the design, implementation, and analysis of assessment tools, learning outcomes, and evaluation strategies in mathematics teaching and learning.
6. Mathematics Teacher Professional Development
Studies related to the training, beliefs, knowledge, and competencies of pre-service or in-service mathematics teachers in various educational contexts.
7. Ethnomathematics and Sociocultural Aspects
Research that investigates the role of culture in shaping mathematical ideas and practices, including the integration of local wisdom or cultural contexts in teaching mathematics.
This scope reflects the journal’s commitment to advancing scholarly discourse in mathematics education through high-quality, peer-reviewed research. The journal encourages interdisciplinary approaches and welcomes contributions from researchers, educators, and practitioners at all educational levels.
This journal is designed and devoted to lectures, researchers, school teachers, and teacher educators, who want to publish their original works with valid and reliable empirical data. The journal welcomes and also invites contributors particularly from the field of mathematics education from Indonesia and other countries, at all times.
JRPM encourages original submissions following the publishing procedure as determined by the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Peer Review Process
JRPM editorial advisory board members are from previously teacher-college universities. The articles sent to the Journal are always reviewed by two members of the Editorial Advisory Board (double blind peer review), and in some cases, by another external reviewers. The decision of the article publication is depending on the evaluation reports from the members of the Editorial Advisory Board. Article evaluation process takes approximately six months. All comments from the reviewers should be taken into account seriously, otherwise the journal cannot guarantee publication of the manuscript.
Publication Frequency
The journal is published by the Department of Mathematic Education, Graduate School Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) twice a year, May and November.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Journal History
Jurnal Riset Pendidikan Matematika was innitiated in 2014 and has been published regularly. The journal has been re-accredited by the Ministry of Research and Technology/National Research and Innovation Agency (Ristek-BRIN) of The Republic of Indonesia as an achievement for the peer-reviewed journal which has excellent quality in management and publication. The recognition published in Director Decree No. 148/M/KPT/2020 which is valid since enacted on 3 August 2020 until 2024.
