The Impact of Augmented Reality-Based Automatic Transmission (ATAR) on Improving Technical Maintenance Skills in Automotive Systems
Vocational education requires innovation in teaching media to improve student competency, especially in the automotive field, where the limitations of expensive physical equipment often constrain the training of automatic transmissions. However, technology-based solutions such as Augmented Reality (AR) have not been widely explored to overcome this problem. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Augmented Reality-based Automatic Transmission (ATAR) teaching media in improving student learning outcomes at the Suzuki Training Center, Universitas Negeri Malang. Quantitative methods were used by comparing pretest and posttest scores to measure improvements in understanding and practical skills. The results showed a significant increase, proving ATAR as an effective learning medium (6). The implication is that ATAR not only overcomes the limitations of physical equipment but also has the potential to transform vocational training by preparing an adaptive workforce in the automotive industry. The uniqueness of this study lies in the development of ATAR as an immersive and interactive solution that has not been widely applied in the context of automatic transmission training.
