This study examines the perceptions of parents of elementary school students toward the profiles of artists and art educators, as this group plays a significant role in shaping their children's future career choices. Although art is increasingly present in everyday life, it is still often viewed merely as a hobby or extracurricular activity rather than a viable career path. Using a phenomenological approach and in-depth interviews, this study involved several parents from villages in Java to explore their experiences and attitudes toward artistic professions. The findings reveal a range of perspectives: some parents appreciate the role of art in character development and cultural preservation, while others express concerns about the financial instability associated with careers in the arts. Artists are often seen as creative and inspirational figures, but are less socially valued compared to more conventional professions. Similarly, art educators still face stigma as "supplementary" teachers whose contributions are deemed less essential. These findings underscore the significance of education, family, and community in promoting awareness and support for artistic professions, ensuring that art is viewed not only as a leisure activity but also as a meaningful and sustainable career.
